Also, the government tries to help, both the FCC and the FDA are attempting to make sure we stay a bit safer. The FCC mandates that phones sold here in the US stay under a certain amount of SAR Specific Absorption Rate. The FCC says no more than 1.6 is okay. You'll see it's all very technical as they explain it--(FCC/SAR) The SAR is used to measure how much RF(Radio Frequency-in this case from your cell phone)- energy the body actually absorbs. They have tons of questions and answers on the FCC RFsafety site. They even direct you to various manufacturers who post each phones SAR rate and you can check out CNET, they list every phones SAR rate too. BUT a lower SAR rate STILL means the phone is sending out some radiation. Yes it's non ionizing, but even non ionizing is proven to affect our bodies! I'll post those details tomorrow. If you look a little deeper, you'll see that the folks at the FCC and the FDA have gotten together and had a symposium with the National Academy of Sciences to discuss the research about possible adverse effects of cell phone radiation. They walked away with a 66 page report that acknowledges that there are more research needs and "gaps" in what we really know, particulary about wireless devices(cell phones, wifi etc) and their effects on "Juveniles, children, fetuses and pregnant women. Better safe than sorry, use that speaker phone or use a hollow tube headset and make sure you keep that phone OFF your body. xoxo

SAR Specific Absorption Rate

So many people keep asking me if their particular phone is safe. They see me use my various meters on say a Blackberry--and the meter goes crazy as it "senses' the radio microwaves-electromagnetic fields or emf radiation. So, they want to check out there Casio or there Razor. Well, I can tell you, every single phone I've measured emits SOMETHING. They all do. They HAVE to. That's how the phones work.
